Optifoam Absorbent Dressings
Optifoam is an advanced wound dressing designed for wounds with heavy drainage.
It absorbs large amounts of liquid while keeping the wound bed moist and sterile. As an added benefit, it regulates the amount of moisture in the wound bed, preventing maceration of healthy skin around the wound bed.
Optifoam primary dressings have a lightly adhesive edge designed to come off without aggravating sensitive skin. Apply secondary dressings with medical tape or other bandages.
Optifoam Options
Optifoam comes as either a primary or secondary dressing. Normal dressings are either 4x4in (10x10cm), 6x6in (15x15cm), or 4x6in (10x15cm).
Optifoam also sells a dressing specifically for sacral wounds.
When to Use
Treats pressure ulcers, partial- and full-thickness wounds, leg ulcers, donor sites, skin tears, lacerations, abrasions, and 1st and 2nd degree burns.
When Not to Use
Do not use Optifoam dressings to treat 3rd degree burns or lesions with active vasculitis.

cleaning wound under optifoam?
should the optifoam be lifted daily and the skin tear cleaned with wound cleanser? or just inspected and replaced if the skin tear looks clean and dry? thank you.

Can I use this product on a wound for more than 2 weeks?
optifoam 4 X 4
does the replacement of an optifoam require a doctors order ? -- if 4X4 optifoam was already in place when this LPN arrived to assess -- and this LPN replaced existing optifoam with a new 4X4 optifoam
