Different Types of Antiemetic Drugs for Motion Sickness

Antiemetics treat motion sickness, nausea, and morning sickness during pregnancy. Some antiemetics are drowsy, so care should be taken when operating machinery.

1. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)

  • Uses: treats allergy and cold symptoms, motion sickness, nausea
  • Side Effects: drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision

2. Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine)

  • Uses: treats motion sickness, nausea, dizziness, vertigo
  • Side Effects: drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, restless feeling

3. Meclizine (Bonine, Antivert)

  • Uses: treats motion sickness, nausea, dizziness, vertigo
  • Side Effects: headache, vomiting, dry mouth, drowsiness(less drowsy than others)

How to Use:

Take as directed on the back of the package to prevent or in response to motion sickness.
